When that little voice in your head tells you that it's time to take a munchie break, with the price of things these days, you probably are scared that your little munchie break will break your bank! Well, you don't have to be. In fact, during this economy crisis, you can find plenty of sweet treats for you and the kids at even sweeter prices. Here's how:

Make baking a family thing. Processed cookies, cakes, and other goodies can cost a lot of money. So, while an economy crisis is engulfing much of the world, you could enjoy a world of tasty treats by baking at home with your family. Start by researching or creating some frugal recipes. These frugal recipes will most likely call for basic ingredients that you can buy for cheap in bulk. If you buy right, you could end up saving, cost cutting, and still make out better than purchasing the processed stuff for lots of dough in the stores. Plus, your family will have a ball making their frugal recipes come to life!

Don't miss the deals! Most grocers have store sales every week. Whether it's a "buy one, get one" deal, a "crushed box" special, or an in-store mark-down for items that are reaching their "sell by" date, there is always a way to save. Some of these goodies that you will catch on special can be frozen for use at a later date. It's what the stores do in their own bakeries!

Make friends with coupons! It may take a little coordinating and a little effort, but the savings will be anything but little. For many coupons are equivalent to cash when it comes to buying snack foods for their families. With some retailers offering double coupons, which will take your 70c coupon up to $1.40 off of a product, how can people not afford to try these little paper wonders? There are almost always coupons available for baked items in the local Sunday newspaper and on packages of snacks. When you combine these coupons with in-store specials like "buy one, get one", you could end up with loads of FREE baked good! Yummy!!

Shop at your local bakery thrift store. Some companies that sell baked goods have their own "thrift stores" where they sell off products that are their close to their "sale by" date or are simply overstocks. If you are in a metropolitan area, chances are, you will most likely have a thrift store within driving distance. These stores are absolutely fabulous for supplying baked goods for large gatherings. They generally offer discounts of up to 70% off of the regular retail price. So, for large events, you could provide lots of goodies without paying lots of money. However, unless the store is close to you, consider the cost of gas before making any long trips to try to save on just a few items. That, also, is an important financial factor.

Just think...you can realize a saving, cost-cut, and still those scrumptious sweets by simply making these saving strategies work for you and your family! Life doesn't get much better than that!

In every garden there are many things that make it extremely difficult to want to take the time to garden at all. Weeds are a great hindrance to most when it comes to gardening. We all want to enjoy the payoff of having a garden, we all want to be able to say that, "I planted this garden and I grew it and the salad on this table tonight was all home grown." When it comes to actually having to garden, however, the payoff seems so very far away and the path along the way seems difficult and not worth it. To keep a nice garden the maintenance is extreme. While growing up I spent every day during the summer waking up early in the morning to avoid the blistering sun and to weed the garden. Over the summer I would spend countless hours digging trenches so the water would flow to the plants, tilling the garden so the ground was soft enough for plants to grow, lining up dirt beds for the plants and the list goes on.  Gardening is no walk in the park. Now as time has gone on, people have looked for ways to create an easier way to garden; and a way has been discovered.

Square food gardening is a wonderful way to garden for all homes in any situation. The work required is minimal compared to the vast amount of work a backyard garden takes. Once you have the right soil there is no tilling required, no weeding and even better no backaches. Imagine your own home garden that just requires you to plant and water. Without weeds you can be assured of greater success in growing those delicious vegetables for your dinner time salad. All you need in square foot gardening is a box, this box can be any size bigger or smaller the idea of the box is to fit you and your familys needs. For example a 4x4 size box can hold enough food for one adult for the season. The trick is making the soil; it requires a mixture of vermiculite, peat moss, and several composts. Once you have your dirt your garden is ready for you to plant, water and most importantly grow. Remember, however, that it is possible to over water your plants; over watering is one of the most common mistakes of novice gardeners. Luckily with your home garden this can be avoided, the soil mix has natural moisture retainers. The excess water will simply run off, so being a first time gardener or not you are guaranteed not to over water your garden. You can put your home garden anywhere you want to as long as your garden has lots of direct sunlight.

One of the best places I know of to get your home garden started is Home Gardens To Go. It is a great place to go if you're someone who wants to garden but might not have the proper soil, land, or tools. Home Gardens To Go provides a simple way to help you garden. Home Gardens To Go will provide a box right to your door along with that perfect mixture of soil (which is weed free). You decide what size of box you need for your home and Home Gardens To Go will get it just right for you.

Box Gardening is a very convenient way to grow vegetables.  Wither you live in a condo or a trailer court with no land; you can still have your own box garden. The box can be placed on a deck or even cement. It is wonderful for beginning gardeners and not a bad idea for experienced gardeners. You don't need if the soil in your yard is good for a specific type of vegetable. The soil is already provided in a perfect form, and it will last for years to come.

Square Foot Gardening is simple to do with the right resources. For more information about square foot gardening and how to do it correctly and easy visit HomeGardensToGo.com.

When you are preparing to undertake a new fitness regimen and get stronger and healthier, having a solid understanding of the role of nutrition and diet may help you achieve your goals much faster. A healthy diet that contains adequate amounts of protein, carbohydrates and fat will promote muscle growth and development and also provide you with the energy you need to get through your workouts.

Asker E. Jeukendrup and Michael Gleeson, the authors of the book "Sport Nutrition: An Introduction to Energy Production and Performance" highlight the importance of understanding the six different categories of nutrients the body needs to function at its peak levels, and how water, vitamins and minerals are essential for healthy functioning.

Foods provide nutrients that helps kick-start metabolism, boost energy level, and increase chances of developing healthy muscle tissues and cells within the body. However, it can be risky or may even be detrimental in the long run to be unaware of proper nutrition which might put your health and well being at stake. To avoid this, it is essential to know the six different categories of nutrients namely carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals, and water. All of these ensure that the body's organs and muscles get enough energy to have a healthy metabolism. An effectively functioning metabolism results to sound circulation of the blood, healthy cells and organs.

One of the most important must-haves in an athlete's nutritional diet is protein. It acts primarily in the body's cell structure development since it heals and repairs injured cells and tissues after an intensive workout. Lack of protein in the body may result to damage of valuable muscle tissue, which may in turn affect the body's overall functioning. People who perform heavy routines such as weight lifting and many other resistance exercises must ensure that they have the right amount of protein in their diets to produce enough energy and for their body to heal at a faster rate.

Another important element in any fitness program is water. The human body consists of 60 percent water that may vary depending on the tissues they are in. Our muscles also contain 75 percent water. Adipose tissue or fat has at least 5 percent of water. Drinking enough water throughout the day helps prevent dehydration that can be caused by an intense workout. In essence, water intake prevents possible exposure to depression, excessive muscle fatigue, confusion and disorientation that may occur as an effect of dehydration.

Vitamins and minerals in the form of a nutritional supplement facilitate healthy cell growth and survival in the body. These essential nutrients are also present among different food sources but majority of people cannot consume throughout the day a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and protein necessary in order to stay healthy. A good alternative then is to take a nutritional supplement to assure enough supply of vitamins and minerals.

Maintaining a food log and reading food labels can help you design the best food and nutrition program for your activity levels so you can maintain steady energy throughout the day and reach a peak level of performance. Make sure your diet contains enough of each of the six essential nutrients so that your body has enough fuel to recover and repair itself after even the most intensive workouts.

There happens to be an old adage that states food is food. It beats me why anyone could say that while we know for sure that some food is definitely not food. But when relying on the basic emphasize of survival and health, this saying now makes perfect sense to most of us. Generally, food is essential for our natural health and we eat to live. But of what use is the food we put on our plates? Does it qualify as food in any way? And just how does junk food count as food? My doctor advices me to space out the junk food, eat a lot of fruits and not forget to have an apple a day. I wondered just how these tips are essential.

Here's how:

Fruits -As the doctor states, vitamin A contained in apples is essential in aiding the body in the absorption of iron, minerals and fiber. Other fruits are a good source of vitamins but eating at least two rations of any kind of fruit is advised.

Vegetables - You may be well aware of the strength possessed by Popeye the sailor every time he pops open a can of spinach and eats it. Spinach contains an entire combination of Vitamins A, B6 and C, riboflavin, calcium, magnesium and iron. Though it doesn't give you muscle, you can be assured of healthy skin, bones and hair.

Grains - Rice is probably the most consumed grain in the world. And don't  say you don't love it. The nutritionists pyramid, along with other grains like and wheat and oats that we don't eat whole puts it at the base. Sadly we only have them in our pasta cereal and flour and never as wholesome as we should. These tasty and affordable foods can be incorporated into just any kind of meal and come out just fine. Grains are highly nutritious according to nutritionists and should be had in a wholesome diet.

Meats and Nuts -  Red or white, meat is an irresistible delicacy across the age strata. Glycogen and myoglobin, two very important types of useful protein are found in white meat, though billed as more expensive than red meat. Seafood with its array of fishes and other water creatures account for these and the adventurer gourmet is at home in this. Poultry too is another source.Red meat is mutton, beef, rabbit, gazelle or even zebra meat. Nuts are a source for roughage and energy needed in the body. Cashew nuts, peanuts macadamia and almonds are some of those tasty and irresistible nuts that can even be taken as snacks.
